Do you know about the Louisiana Purchase? It was a huge part in history. But I had a bigger part in Kansas history. If we did not buy the Louisiana Purchase Kansas Would not be here right now.

Beginning in the 17th century France explored the Mississippi River valley and established scattered settlements in the region. Almost in the middle of the 18th century France controlled more of the present day United States than any other European power. from New Orleans northeast to the Great Lakes and northwest to modern day Montana On April 30, 1803 Napoleon for the war against England. Spain got the Louisiana Purchase from France and France were the first country to settle the new world. The Louisiana purchase was to coast to the Mississippi River.

The Louisiana Purchase was bought from France on April 30 1803. The Louisiana purchase was over twice the size of the then United States. The Louisiana Purchase was 828,000,000 square miles of land. The US spent 15 million dollar for that piece of land. Today it would be almost $319,200,000. It included land between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi River. Lewis and Clark was one of the first explorers of the new land in 1804 the next year after United States bought it. They started nearby St.Louis and ended past the Rocky Mountains on the Pacific coast.

So know the United States has double overnight for only 15 million dollars. The Louisiana Purchase was the largest land transaction in U.S. History. The coolest thing about this is that there was no shots fired and each other so it was very peace full.
